I have a new panosonic plasma tv and a samsung home theater in a box. They are connected with a HDMI cable from the HDMI out on the hts to the HDMI 1 on the tv. The tv is connected to digital cable .The tv recognizes the hts as the volume control for the hts shows up on the TV but no sound in the tv mode but works while playing a dvd. Are the 2 systems compatible?

Majority of the tv programs are only in stereo. Only those program with the Dolby logo are in surround sound. You also have to connect an optical cable from your cable box or disc network to the HTS for it to have sound. When listening to tv you have to select the source where you plugged the tv on. Hope this will help you out.

You need to connect the audio output of your set-top box (or the TV – if you use an antenna) to the audio input of your HT.

Check if the HT has an AUX setting. If there is no auxiliary input, there is nothing you can do. Select AUX on the HT to listen to TV audio.
