Author: Standing in front of the displayed screen, they scanned the list of gifts wanted by the bride and groom. They looked over the dishes and the silverware settings. The cut crystal vase was lovely but out of their price range. There was a set of twelve fine linen napkins and a matching linen tablecloth. The bride had even specified what color she wanted them purchased in.
They looked at each other when they got to the kitchenware and cooking utensils. The bride-to-be was a great cook. There was a set of name brand cookware that was supposed to last a lifetime. Then one of the girls broke out laughing. She was looking at the grouping of knives. She mused that if the couple ever got close to divorce court, those sharp knives might be a dangerous thing to have sitting around the kitchen.
They agreed it was a good idea. After all a frying pan could be used as a weapon if they got into a fight. Yes, but so could the wusthof knife set be dangerous in a fight. The set was very attractive they decided. We should look at the whole list before ordering, they decided.
When they invite us for dinner, we’ll see her chopping carrots and onions with them they said. When we aren’t there, she’ll think of us as she chops them, they added. She made the best chicken cordon bleu and they always requested that she make it for them.
Here’s another pretty set one girl said as she examined the picture. It was a henckels knife set. Looking it over carefully, they agreed it was hard to choose because both sets looked sturdy and attractive. We can shop for an hour and come back and decide they agreed.
They went through the entire jewelry department as they usually did. We won’t have to wear pink earrings I hope, they said to each other. We’ll look like live Barbie dolls walking down the aisle, they agreed and broke into laughter.
They wrinkled their noses at the thought of the horrible pink bridesmaid dresses they had to wear. They wondered why their friend had chosen the color pink. They both thought pink was only for little girls and flower gardens. They wondered if they had to match their lipstick to the pink in the dresses.
They walked over to the sales desk and asked if they could take white shoes and dye them to match the exact color of the bridesmaid dresses. After that, back they went to the wish list of wedding gifts their friend had selected. It only took them five minutes to check the price and warranty, and order the kitchen knife set, purchase it and cross it off the wish list. They agreed that it was an attractive and useful gift.

I told her about Susie spilling all her beads in the bedroom last week. Although she picked up most of them, there were still a few she had missed. It hurt to step on them when you were barefoot. I got out the vacuum and did the bedroom floor for her. I did think she could have managed with a small vacuum.
We went into a store with a huge selection of bedding quilts. I’d been planning to give my bedroom a new look. I wanted to paint sage green and would need a quilt to match. I saw one I’d keep in mind. Maybe it would go on sale soon. I picked up a few bed pillows that were on sale.
Going past the jewelry department, we stopped to look at earrings. There were some beaded earrings in a beautiful mauve shade. I thought they looked delicate. Then we saw chandelier earrings. They seem to be really popular now. She mentioned she didn’t look good in those because her neck was too short.
She looked over the bracelets. We both admired the wide ones with three rows of crystals and pink or purple beads added for accent. I wanted to buy one but would wait for a sale. I usually did that cause I always found what I wanted on sale.
Handbags, scarves wallets, we looked at all of them. In the shoe department we laughed about the stiletto heels. We decided the movie stars were welcome to wear them and possibly break a leg doing so. It’s like walking around on two ladders. Why take a chance on falling?
After walking around the jewelry counter once more, I remarked that they had a great selection of wedding bands for men. We still liked the plain gold bands. We wondered out loud what kind of wedding band our friend Scott would choose. He was getting married next month. We both agreed he might be avant garde enough to buy one that was decorated with diamonds.
