Most of us have been in the position where we are rushing around at the last minute to find a suitable birthday present for someone. Instead of flowers, or in addition to them, you can buy a special box of chocolates or candies. Note the word ’special’, because just buying any ones from the nearest supermarket will not make a very impression on the person that you are giving them to. Then there are cakes too, which everyone loves, especially on their birthday. If you have two hours and any baking experience then it is best to make it yourself – your friend or family member will really appreciate that. Buying one from a bakery is perfectly ok though, as there are great ones to choose from. Spending an extra dollar or two to have it personalized with a message is a must. Another option, and this is really your only choice if you have forgotten about getting a birthday present until less than 30 minutes before you are meeting the person, is to take them out somewhere. Take them where? Well, a nice restaurant, to the theater or to a sports game are all good ideas. It being their birthday, they will probably already have plans for that evening, so you will to arrange it for some time during the following week. Do not let much more than a week pass before taking them out because then the moment will have passed. Of course, actually going out and buying something advance is still the best thing to do.
