Mate you need some sort of Antivirus/Security on yr PC. Vista is very RAM hungry the only way I know that definitely speeds up the processing is to increase yr RAM, I use Vista Hm Prem on my L/T & once I increased the RAM it runs heaps faster.

If you don't have Norton you need @ the very least a free Anti-virus, you can try either Avast (I have this on my desktop PC) or AVG, but prefer Avast to AVG, as I had probs with security using it.

Having said that you only get what you pay for, so if you only have 1 pc it is worth paying for a decent anti-virus/security progamme. BTW I don't like Norton either.

I use my lappy for surfing & stuff I bought Kaspersky I/S have used if for 3 yrs & had no probs. They update more than once per day too.

It's not Norton's fault, yr PC's performance is more likely due to Vista & lack of RAM.
