Diamonds are supposed to sparkle, but as time passes your engagement ring, or other diamond jewelry may not sparkle so much. Diamonds age beautifully, but can look dull, even cloudy as dirt builds up over time. So if it did sparkle once, rest assured your favorite jewelry will again! All it needs is a little care and attention.

Routine maintenance of diamond jewelry can be done easily at home. Just follow a few simple steps.

Step 1
Inspect your ring carefully. If you happen to have a magnifying glass, or similar, use it. Even a child’s toy will do! Use tweezers to gently lift away any snagged fibers that are clinging to the setting. Do not pull them or you may loosen the stone.

Step 2
Prepare two small bowls and half fill each with lukewarm water. Into the first bowl only add a few drop of mild detergent or white vinegar. Leave second with clean water, for rinsing.

DO NOT CLEAN YOUR DIAMONDS OVER THE SINK. It is just too easy for a wet piece of jewelry to slip through your fingers and down the plug hole. Do not risk losing a diamond earring or your engagement ring! Use bowls!

Step 3
Soak each piece of jewelry in the detergent water for a few moments. Use your common sense. If you are cleaning a lot of jewelry, only do a few pieces at a time so that they do not risk damaging each other.

Step 4
Use a soft toothbrush, maybe an old one or a child’s toothbrush, to agitate the surface of the diamond very carefully. Work lightly over the setting so that you remove all the dirt particles without loosening the gemstone. Gently clean every facet of the diamond.

Step 5
Rinse the jewelry by swirling gently in the clean water and then leave to dry on an absorbant soft cloth.

If you have several items of jewelry to clean, change the rinsing water between each piece.

If you prefer, you could use a purchased jewelry cleaner. These solutions are specially tailored for diamond cleaning, but are not essential. They usually come with a miniature brush which is just perfect for making your diamonds grime free! Some of the better bought cleaning solutions include a small vibrating bowl which safely agitates the jewelry sonically.

After your jewelry is dry, polish it gently with a specialized jewelry polishing cloth. Take time to examine the diamonds. They should be held firm by the setting, with no play of movement. If there is even the slightest movement, take the piece to a jeweler to be tightened up, or you may risk losing the diamond!

If all is well, you can return your sparkling diamonds to your jewelry box ready to dazzle at their next outing!

If you want the new classic, go with white gold. This can give you the opportunity to inject your personality into your jewelry, as it’s versatile enough to give you numerous setting and gemstone combinations to choose from.

These days, men are more confident in expressing themselves with a unique personal style. Jewelry is a great way of saying, “This is me, this is who I am, and I am proud of it!”

Men’s jewelry has really taken off in recent years as there is no longer the stigma of associating jewelry with femininity. Men are generally more confident with wearing jewelry for everyday use, both formal and casual. Fewer men are concerned their masculinity will come under question when they wear a necklace, ring, wristband and even earrings.

For those men who do worry about appearing effeminate, there several options in masculine styling including men’s leather jewelry, rings with wide bands, and pendants with bone carvings etc.

Some men prefer necklaces in sterling silver, or stainless steel as opposed to gold. Others prefer a dull finish (not shiny), and avoid anything too delicate, or with big or bright stones. It really comes down to personal choice and what you feel comfortable wearing. There is certainly no shortage of options.

The improved range of jewelry designs and patterns has contributed to the growing popularity of men’s jewelry. Some designs are classy, stylish, and others are very masculine and sporty. Designs range from traditional to trendy.

When it comes to men’s rings, most are masculine looking, with wide bands and large top surfaces. Some do have stones inlaid, but the stones are usually small. Birth stones are reasonably common, but the popularity often depends on the color. As an example; the month of October stone is either an opal, or pink tourmaline in color, which for many men is too feminine.

However, there is a good choice of metals including gold, silver, titanium, stainless steel, tungsten, and black stainless steel. Most men’s rings can be engraved depending on the metal band used. Popular choices for engraving included yellow and white gold rings. For those who are more bashful, inscriptions on the inner side of the ring are a more modest way of showing love and affection.

Diamonds are amongst the most valuable stones to be inlaid in men’s rings, necklaces and earrings. Diamonds are particularly popular for wedding rings and anniversary rings. However, in saying that, plain wedding bands are still the preferred choice for many males. Gold is considered to be the classic and timeless choice in wedding bands.

In summary, you really are spoilt for choice with the range of men’s jewelry available these days. And, you don’t need to worry about femininity, as men wearing jewelry are seen to be normal, rather than the exception. There is also a huge range from sporty designs to the more traditional styling.
